Yep. The reckless use charge was probably due to his use of lighter fluid. He also threatened to burn down the strip club. With all that, plus previous felony convictions, I'm not surprised he got a lengthy sentence. It almost sounds like he wanted to go back in.

Umm those things are always involved with burning the American flag...difference being?

I think so...the american flag burning offends far more people...its arson...its reckless...its harassment of millions...and protected by 1st amendment.
I hate burning of EITHER...its just rude and mean...but why does the rainbow flag get super protection and not THE flag that covers ALL Americans...

It doesn't. You've been mislead by not being given the full story. He did not do this in a controlled formal protest: he tore down the church's flag, walked across the road to a strip club, and burned it there. He isn't even fighting the charges: he happily pleads guilty.
