Yeah...losing in the MOST Charger way possible... By one point, after squandering a 27 point lead... Literally ANY little thing could have made the difference for them... A made field goal... A first down... Not having Mike Williams injured stupidly, in the previous game... Having Rashawn Slater rotate in at left tackle... Not getting one of two stupid penalties, for "Unsportsmanlike Conduct"... It's all very disappointing.
And they made some truly costly and boneheaded moves in the off-season... Letting Justin Jackson go...was a huge betrayal, and a self-own. He went to Detroit and upped the game from their bench and on Special Teams... Meanwhile they picked up Sony Michel - paid him WAY TOO MUCH - and he was such a bust...they wound up waiving him a couple of weeks ago. JC Jackson... Paid WAY TOO MUCH - and then proceeded to play poorly for several weeks, prior to sustaining a season ending injury...
We can go after Staley for some bad moves... But I blame Tom Telesco for plenty of it, too...
When you're averaging under 3 yards per carry, in a playoff game...well that's when Justin Jackson could've provided you a spark - by breaking off a big run, or catching a short pass to the flat - or just by competently blocking for Herbert... Alas... Let's hope they can do better next year...hold things together, and get/stay healthy.
