A misogynist is somebody who hates women... and a misandrist is somebody who hates men...
And yeah, the word is lately (ab)used a lot in politics .... You get it labeled as soon as you disagree with something a female politician said (but just because somebody is a woman doesn't mean I have to agree with her, right?)
