gotta disagree a bit, workers and folks get a roof over their head, same with snap 100% of that money goes back into the economy. Its just annoying when the right wingers whine about it yet all that money goes into the economy unlike true welfare for the wealthy that goes straight to Switzerland and Panama.

Why not provide government housing and cut out the middleman?

For all its good intentions govt housing is typically run poorly and then we end up with corruption and group of people living with and surrounded by others in bad shape. Its not what you know often, but who. Using a voucher the folks can live in better neighborhoods not surrounded by poverty, and maybe meet some folks that can give em a hand up, instead of being surrounded by others who also need a hand.
