You misunderstand me. Freedom always includes danger and risk, else it's not freedom. I agree. But there's a difference between that and experiencing police brutality and the state protecting the abusers.
In the former case, you are seen as just and honourable for defending yourself. In the latter case, you are seen as a terrorist for defending yourself, and the state will defend it's henchmen as much as it's able to. That's not freedom. That's duress and enslavement.
And it's same in all countries. It doesn't matter if the police is on the right or wrong. Lay a finger on them and you'll have a bad time.
Of course, some countries have it better than others. Here in Bosnia, for example, the policemen are allowed to shoot only when they're being shot at. Any other situation, and they end up in court.
In America, on the other hand, incidents like the shooting at the UPS truck and the killing of the hostage happen all the time, and the worst that can happen is the policemen responsible losing their jobs, often with the ability to become cops again afterwards. "Land of the Free"
Hope you get what I'm trying to say. If you're one of those conservatives/libertarians who claim to want small government, you have my respect for that. But I still have to say: A small tumor is still a tumor.
