I'd love to try some legit chinese food sometime. We have a partner company in Beijing, brought a couple of their employees over for a couple weeks, one lady said she had mastered the art of making dumplings...had my mouth watering immediately but unfortunately never got to try any of them as they had to leave before she could make any.

Congee is what you are thinking about. I don't care for that sort of thing so I have been sampling many others. Some have been bland, but filling, others have been wonderful. Still plenty of time to try more.
