Lol kay. I read plenty of perspectives and in fact I used to be a conservative/libertarian in college. Then I had some life experiences and grew up.

I don’t consider myself a Leftist. I’m a moderate liberal Democrat.

The things that caused me to “grow up,” as I put it, in no particular order were: 1. realizing my own good fortune vs. how hard some other groups have it in society; 2. learning the importance of respect toward others; 3. deeply understanding the science behind climate change and learning how much of a threat it poses to our planet; 4. landing a job where I make enough money that I can feel comfortable paying slightly more in taxes so other people can have a better life.

Because the other viable options are the very ones you just named- duhhhh! You are begging the question on whether the losers you mentioned(Hillary & Biden) haven't done any awful things. This little argument is not thought through thoroughly and fails. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for trying.

Your argument makes no sense. I’m allowed to choose the politicians I want to support, and there are plenty of viable options other than Clinton/Biden.

And I do like some Republicans too but sadly virtually the entire party right now has caved in to Trump.

O course it makes sense. You are still begging the question(s). That is ASSUMING that #1. that the loser failed candidates you mentioned are viable and #2. that THEY THEMSELVES have not done any aweful things and #3 that those aweful things are worse than so called aweful things Trump has done- Oh #4 What are you calling aweful via Trump's actions? These are all items which you assume without making a case for AKA - BEGGING THE QUESTION. I commits this logical fallacy and thus your meme fails and gets a down vote. Try again.

I mean, HRC earned 3+ million more popular votes than Trump in 2016, and Biden is outpolling Trump at this point for 2020, so they at least meet the minimum criteria of viability as candidates. (A concept you introduced to this discussion, not me)

The examples of Trump’s awful actions are too numerous to list. I will say that the thing that finally turned me against him for good was Ukraine-gate. (Not Russia-gate or anything else). Up until that point I remained minimally hopeful he could turn things around.

But anyone who would actively try to recruit a foreign government to interfere in our election, and treat congrasionally-appropriated military foreign aid funds as a personal favor to be granted or revoked at will, is not fit to be president.

Bad reasons, but okay. I was only citing the popular vote figure for the proposition of viability. A concept which you introduced, again.

I’m engaged in several ongoing debates with multiple people in different meme comments sections. Sorry for confusing you with someone else, but I don’t think it’s that important ultimately.

No other country on earth uses a system like the electoral college. Most of them manage just fine on a popular vote. In no other properly run republic/democracy can a candidate win 3 million more votes than the other candidate and still not win.

I could go on at length for why the Electoral College is awful, but in a nutshell it means that certain swing states like Ohio and Florida (small fraction of our country) get to pick our presidents.

“California picks.” No, a national popular vote would be the literal opposite of states picking presidents.

I’ve seen all these arguments before. They aren’t convincing to me. I like most aspects of our constitutional system but the EC needs to go. A system which allows a candidate that wins 3 million more votes to still not win the presidency is simply not responsive to the popular will however you slice it.

You guys are pretty much interchangeable parts. And you clearly think I am for being a “Leftist,” so, right back at ya.

Wow!! After 243 years there are people who do not understand that we live in a republic. Would you mind telling me what those 3 million votes meant to Hillary's run? Allow me, please - ZIPPO. But, I digress and my point stands even if you don't get it. I didn't state that she was not a viable candidate. I'll slow it down for you. Oh, never mind - if you are in a discussion of this depth and you can't comprehend my point then go have someone else explain it to you or drop out of your own post and admit that it has been broken down into the nonsense that it is.

If Trump's "aweful actions are too numerous to list" then surely you could name many. I'm a reasonable person and will grant you that Trump isn't perfect. That was not the question in 2016. The question was whether he would make a better president that the criminal - HRC. There was also a question as to who was less flawed. The American people answered those questions loud and clear.

Trump was cleared in the inteference of our election, just in case you haven't heard. Trump and his campaign were victims of having his campaign spied on by the inteligence agencies and which were spearheaded by the DNC. While you display your displaced anger toward Trump then please save some for the DNC. A fake dossier, to get a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign??? Where's the outrage?
