Yeah sure Kate, why don't you simply say 'there's plenty of options online' to the 7 million Brits who say they don't have a close friend, even better say it to the almost 200,000 old Brits who have not had a conversation with a friend or relative in more than a month. Obviously some people get lucky online and have loads of money to spend hundreds of quid on dating sites, many succeed in getting romantic partners that way but there's also many who struggle finding friends online to the point many have completely given up on pursuing friends online.
People who have literally nobody who gives a shit about them, nobody to talk to find it harder to find the right online sites for friendship or romance because they don't have any close friend to recommend a website they were very successful on. Severely lonely people who have minimum wage jobs are especially vulnerable to being trapped in severe isolation forever, they struggle to find the funds and the motivation to spend a high percentage of their wealth to pursue people on sites when they know 9 times out of 10 at least they won't succeed.
