I'm going to be honest here. Billie cannot sing, let's get that out of here. but natewantstobattle has this cover where he sings Bad Guy, but he makes it sound like Green Day is singing, even doing an impression of Billie Joe, and it low-key sounds kinda fire. so I'll give her props for writing at least one decent song, but that's all. Hah. It’s much better... still not quite my jam. I can’t quite shake her version while listening. I’m sure some of her work would be good if performed by literally anyone else.

I don’t follow her that closely and don’t know how much songwriting she does. But generally, I think the trope that artists who write their own material are more “authentic” than those who don’t is BS. I remember when growing up having all sorts of conversations with my friends about which bands or singers were “authentic,” and very little about the technically challenging performance aspects of being a singer.

lol, I know the feel. it's like, if you take someone's song, play it in your own or a different style, then release it as a cover with credit, what's the problem? it's new content. but most people think that covers are unauthentic. bands that JUST do covers are a bit cheesy tho. it's still better to have SOME original content than none.

Agreed. Cover songs and/or remixes can be amazing. And a well-chosen and well-placed cover song or two goes over really well in concert setlist.

some of my favorite examples of covers making a song BETTER are Let it Go by New Found Glory, Bohemian Rhapsody by The Venetia Fair, and of course Bad Guy by NateWantsToBattle

all of these covers add something, be it a simple genre change that makes the song more enjoyable (Let it Go and Bad Guy), or simply plays it in a way that isn't a genre change, but plays it differently. the Bohemian Rhapsody cover adds a tinge of insanity to the vocals that's very fitting for the song.

It’s okay. I agree with the intensity part, which was especially prevalent in the parts between Brian’s first guitar solo and “to me”. I still think the original is better.

It's a fantastic easy to use guitar tab program, and an interesting esoteric community. Unfortunately, the main site is under maintenance. If interested check out my stream: imgflip.com/m/Tabit. oh no no no, its fine. when I say I didn't play much, I meant I really don't play that much, like, at all. I still have a relatively nice guitar that I'll pick up every once in awhile, but I don't actively play. thanks for the offer though, that's really nice of you.

Yeah, I haven't touched my real guitar in ages. All I do these days is TabIt -- I want to pick up guitar again but it is hard to be interested in analog instruments when TabIt allows up to 15 tracks going with 127 or so instruments to choose from, plus programmable drums.

TabIt's a learning curve at first for sure but it's an amazingly simple yet powerful program once you get the hang of it. Some people just stop by to listen and learn. Cheers man.

I don’t understand the hype about her. Like I don’t at all. I used to like her, and now I despise her. I prefer Melanie Martinez, who sings about serious stuff and still manages to make it a bop. She’s a little bit underrated though.
