It's because direct democracy will heavily favour big cities, with little consideration or representation for lessly populated areas.

Yeah, trucks of ballots for Hillary magically showed up at voting stations all around the country, millions of dead people voted for Hillary, Van's of people were bused around to vote at different places. She stole at least 5 states, but you can't steal a landslide... yet.
