I think that there is an assumption that men's emotions should work the same as women's and that there is something wrong with men who don't. Yes men have emotions, but they do not have to live there all day, do not have to constantly use them as a touchstone for decision making. I can make a sandwich without havimg to stop and think about how I feel about sandwiches. Men and women are not subsets of each other. That said, not being able to express when he wants to can be a problem because men are taught to focus on the task at hand. That is functional, but can have consequences.
