Strictly speaking, anything said that has been brought outside of the courtroom is hearsay--witness testimony, documents, even video and audio recordings that are brought in as evidence are all hearsay.
Generally speaking, it is far easier to find a piece of evidence that is an exception to the hearsay rule than to conjure something that actually needs to be excluded.
