LOL! Good. I am staying busy! The company I work for merged with another company so it's been hectic, busy and emotional. The president of the company wanted to retire so he sold out. I really, really liked working for him so it kinda sucks. I'm working on a retirement gift for him, I spelled his last name with 1/2" copper pipe and fittings all connected as one. Then I'll clean it and buff and polish it.

Been busy working on my house too. Gutted the basement bathroom, cut the concrete and completely redid everything. I expanded the bathroom too so I can go from a stand up shower to a bathtub. Did all of the electrical reconfigurations too. Took out the 40gal water heater and put in a tankless nat gas water heater. Gutted the copper lines out of the house and ran PEX. I built 3/4" hot and cold water manifolds with individual ball valves. I was originally going to put in a manabloc system but realized you can't efficiently and effectively recirculate hot water. I built the hot manifold to recirculate to the tankless so now there's INSTANT hot water at every fixture in the house. I need to generate a punch list for small things I need to touch up on and finish. Trim work, caulking bathroom, etc. 😧

You staying steady in your work?

Well I hate your company got rocked but that's cool you're able to do that for your old boss, that will be a really nice gift! You'll love that instant water heater, especially being nat gas. The electric ones just don't do as well, but gas units are awesome. Sounds like you've been busy for sure...I have some projects around the house I need to get to but time has gotten away from me on a lot of it. Need to replace our deck and re-stain the fence, paint kitchen cabinets (uggh), pull up and replace the flooring in both of our bathrooms which I'd like to tile in instead of sheet linoleum like we have. Home ownership amirite?! Lol.

Yeah, work has been steady through all this covid crap, slower than usual but we've managed fairly well. Laid off 2 people and cut everyone back to 36 hours a week for a while but luckily we're back up to 40 now. We're blessed to have only been impacted that much. I'm looking forward to seeing things steady out and get back to "normal", and trying to stay positive and find opportunities in the midst of all the chaos. I think restaurants (which is one of our bigger books of business) are going to start seeing permanent changes to deal with distancing and new health codes, so when they all start having to renovate to accommodate those changes we'll be there to get the business. That's my hope anyway. Gotta find the silver linings you know...

Hey, funny story...we designed a retail shop once, sort of a boutique place that wanted some funky industrial looks to it so it was all open ceilings, exposed ductwork, piping, conduit, everything was right out there in the open with a bunch of industrial high-bay lights to light the place up. Apparently the owner didn't think there was enough conduit exposed, so he had the electrician just put in a bunch of dummy pipes on the wall in sort of an artsy pattern, it actually looked really cool. That is until the inspector showed up and told them they had way more than 360 degrees worth of bends in all those conduit runs and it didn't meet code! Didn't matter that it was decorative only, no wires in any of it...the freaking inspector made them rip it out and put it back with junction boxes all over the place. When they told me that I didn't know whether to laugh hysterically or just stand there with my jaw on the floor, lol.

I love the steampunk/industrial look! And that's awful!! Inspectors are morons. Why can't that be exempt?? Since I work in commercial plumbing I do love seeing completely symmetrical piping. The reason my hot manifold goes different directions is because it's centrally located and I didn't want to have to double the PEX backwards. The price for the manifolds evened out to the price of the 36 port manabloc. Go figure.
