A Donkey's Tale. There once was a donkey who had grown old and slowed down quite a bit. His owner sadly decided it was "time to put him to sleep."; But the owner heard the donkey crying out and saw that he had fallen into an old well. "Oh, well," he thought, "I guess that settles it." He took some garbage and threw it down the well and told his neighbors to do the same. But the donkey SHOOK OFF THE GARBAGE, pushed it down ... and ROSE ABOVE IT! People threw MORE garbage on him, but he SHOOK IT OFF and ROSE HIGHER! Day after day he just SHOOK IT OFF and he CONTINUED TO RISE! One day, to the owner's surprise, he saw that, NEVER DETERRED, ... the donkey had RISEN ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP of the well! The intrepid donkey had not let ANY JUNK keep him down!! ... So the owner shot him ... ... Hey, ... I didn't say it's an INSPIRATIONAL story! ...
