The "ego" isn't necessary except as emphasis since the subject's already identified in the verb.

(Ego) terreo malum = I frighten evil, the evil man, etc.
Terreo malos = I frighten evil men
Terreo multos = I frighten many
Terreo multos malos = I frighten many evil men
You can also do perterreo for extra emphasis too.
