Seemed unfair 2 on 1 after a few days, so I left Dimby alone. But then one comment from me and he got triggered again.

What I do is poke him, and only reply to 1 out of 4 of his replies. I don't even read the whole thing, just the first line. When he slows down, I reply to 1 out of 3 or 2, just to prompt him.
I also leave him hanging for a few hours then bap him again when I return.

Not saying you should do the same, but if he wants to scream, let him, only make him do it on your terms.
