Parole is kinda like a early release if you behave well in prison, unless the prison sentence doesn't have it. When you do get parole, you'll get to serve the rest of your sentence outside of prison. Sometimes, an inmate might have to serve a portion of their sentence in order to be eligible for parole. Not to mention, in order to maintain your parole, you would most likely have to agree with the terms/conditions for it. After you get to have parole, you have to try not to violate the terms/conditions or you'll go back to prison. Some countries have different jurisdictions, but that depends.
