Religion(s) often include miracles/magic/supernatural, which are not compatible with modern science and our current understanding of reality - at least that's how I see it at the moment.
i see it as religion will change over time to fit newer viewpoints. for example, when plant/animal cells were discovered the church did not accept it. now it does, at least most churches
