It's called the Statue of LIBERTY and not immigration. What part don't you all understand Liberty does not translate immigration.

But itdoes say that the poor, tired, huddled masses yearining to be free are welcome. Now I am no linguist, But that sounds a lot like refugees to me

that a wall wont stop the immigration whatsoever. these people can just come here through a legal port of entry and just overstay their visas.

at least they wouldn't be coming in illegally and they wouldn't be undocumented

Bruh, try this. Leave your house door open for one week. If no one stole anything from you I will reconsider my view about the wall. See there is something called property and if you go into property illegally you should be kicked out. Think of America as one giant house, our door (the borders) need locks (the wall). If we don't have the locks (wall) then people will break in and steal from the big house (America). Try the experiment and tell me if someone stole from you. I hope I logically explained that to you and good luck with the experiment, but don't come crying to me when your house gets broken into.

1) Ellis Island was a *legal* port of entry
2) We don't make national policy based off a poem some socialite wrote over a century ago that only ended up on the statue b/c she won a contest
3) Border barriers are necessary when you have a problem of mass uncontrolled illegal migration & they *work*

"Ellis Island was a *legal* port of entry"

Now I am no lawyer, but I thought you could requeat asylum even if you dont enter through a legal port of entry.

"We don't make national policy based off a poem some socialite wrote over a century ago that only ended up on the statue b/c she won a contest"

There is nothing less American than the Statue if liberty. Got it.

"Border barriers are necessary when you have a problem of mass uncontrolled illegal migration & they"

I think the point of the meme was that the Wall is counterproductive to the goal of welcoming the poor, tired, huddled masses yearning to be free.

1. you can legally request asylum if you are being persecuted, in the FIRST country you cross leaving your own.

2. You're a f**king idiot

3. maybe it's time to bring down the statue if that's how the retarded think of it

"you can legally request asylum if you are being persecuted, in the FIRST country you cross leaving your own."

I thought it was in the First SAFEST Country? Also are you disagreeing with me that one can request Asylum even if they enter through less than legal means? You have not made yourself very cleary by discussing something else.

"You're a f**king idiot"

Oh my mistake. /s*. Fixed. My statment was obviously meant sarcastically.

"maybe it's time to bring down the statue if that's how the retarded think of it"

Well... you do know where I got the "welcoming the poor, tired, huddled masses yearning to be free." part? Its less me interpreting and more quoting the Statue.

Also did you just suggest removing the statue of liberty?

no, the first country. almost all countries are signed up to a UN agreement on asylum but it has to be claimed at a port of entry

quoting a poem means nothing. seriously...who quotes a poem as if it's law?! apart from the retarded.

i didn't "suggest" anything other than it being something that "you" would probably welcome

"quoting a poem means nothing. seriously...who quotes a poem as if it's law?! apart from the retarded."

Apologies. I had simply thought that since the Statue of Liberty is such a symbol of America that the words etched into it would also be considered part of the American spirit

"i didn't "suggest" anything other than it being something that "you" would probably welcome"

Truly? I thought you said "maybe it's time to bring down the statue"

1. check wikipedia or something...that's about your level

2. "part of the American spirit" it is..."spirit" and nothing else, certainly NOT law or anything else a sane person would build a policy on

3. You thought wrong, i actually said..."maybe it's time to bring down the statue if that's how the retarded think of it" ....you missed out the whole bit where i referenced you

1- Well I mean technically the burden if proof lays with you, but ok

https://www.npr.org/2019/07/15/741769333/u-s-sets-new-asylum-rule-telling-potential-refugees-to-apply-elsewhere

2- How unamerican of you. All laws are made with the American spirit in mind. Or atleast tgats how it should go

3- Yes, but you still suggested to bring down the Statue of liberty because I was using it as an argument against you. I mean seriously, no need to get defensive about it. I understand it was an Argument formulated against me and that you truly dont wish for the Statue to be brought down, so lets end this path of Dialog. Its not that important at the end of the day.
