How so? They are both "publicly acknowledged gun free zones." Honestly can not think of one single difference between the two.

"Rules" are what we're talking about. We're not talking about making a rule to let people walk around naked in a public building...but we can. Because the subject is "rules."

The rule of not letting school staff arm themselves...then announcing to the public that "no one in this building can defend themselves."

Same as making a rule at home that no one can have a gun...then announcing to the public that "no one in this home can defend themselves."

Get it :)

If there was a sign saying "don't masterbate" on the door of a Burger King...would that stop someone from going in there and masterbating? If teachers were armed...it would guarantee that they have a fighting chance to stop a mass shooting.

If you were a student in the classroom of a school...and a mass shooter was going door to door killing everyone. Would want your teacher standing in front of you with their cell phone or standing in front of you with a Glock.

I only see 2 options.

1.) Allow school staff to arm themselves.
2.) Fortify the school the way courthouses are fortified. Metal detectors...armed guards at every entrance and exit.

The problem we have is that number 2 it too expensive and the government will never approve it. How many more school shooting will happen before you realize that they will never finance option two?

Have you ever tried something you thought "looked easy'...but when you tried it...it was extremely hard? For me it was water skiing. I thought it was easy because I lacked the knowledge of water skiing. I will try my best to explain why the 2 options I mentioned are our only choices.

1.) You have to have metal detectors...because once a shooter has entered a building...they have the upper hand. In that you must come to him rather than him coming to you. Not to mention, they can kill 30 students in a 1 classroom in seconds.

2.) You have to have a minimum of 2 armed security at each entrance. if there is just one...shooter has the advantage of surprise and kill the single guard. Now refer back to 1.)

Why do you think courthouses are set up this way. Also...courthouses have more security than I mentioned. They also have armed security on every floor and on patrol in the hallways. Do you think they do that for a real tactical reason...or are they just wasting money?

Octavia_Melody By the way...thank you for the very mature and thoughtful comments. Wish everyone would disagree in that manner. Just posted a new meme. It's of a sign I believe will be much more effective than a "gun free zone" sign.

Remember, the goal here is "to stop mass school shootings." --no security or armed teachers is not an option to achieve that goal.
