Fast forward 5 years and read where she’s hooked on drugs, alcohol, or both, and her parents are trying to stay out of jail for tax fraud

Yeah, her parents don't look like drug burnouts or anything. No wonder she has a disorder.

What disorder?

She, apparently, has aspergers/autism

By the way, it's known medically as "Autism Spectrum Disorder"

Disorder is in the name.

A mental condition isn't the same as a disorder.
I have Asperger's, believe or not. And I consider it a plus. The worst part is being anti-social but Asperger's/autism can also have good qualities.

Alright, let's assume that yes, it's a "disorder"... but people who have autism aren't disordered. Fine, it does affect social skills. But, is it really a big bad thing? Is it something to find a cure for? Is it something which impedes success and fulfilment? No.

You'll assume that the medical condition "Autism Spectrum Disorder" has "Disorder" in the name - how generous of you.

Is it a bad thing? I suppose it all depends on what you do with it. If you're able to find fulfillment in your life, then I'm happy for you. If you're using your disorder as a shield to prevent criticism, or to shame anyone who dares to question your public statements....

It's not a prevention of criticism.

For you. Their intentions are obvious.

Figures that the Asperger's kid says that. Kinda proves the point 🤷‍♂️

For example, OCD makes you an amazing organiser.
Asperger's/Autism can make you more creative.
The thought pattern might be different, but it's not a pure detriment.
