I certainly wouldn't put any faith in the opinion of someone with autism.....but that's just me....and other sane people.

If they'd like to offer an opinion on what they want to eat for lunch, or what clothing they prefer - that's fine. People with mental disorders are not high on my list of trustworthy opinion sources.

I'm not going to trust the opinion of someone with diminished mental capacity. The only reason she's in the news is because bleeding hearts like you will defend her against monsters like me who do not value her opinion.

Why change the subject? We're talking about mental deficiency. Besides, people have hallucinations for all sorts of reasons. I was once given a painkiller that made waves in the ceiling - it also happened to completely remove all feeling in my left arm as it was being sewn back together.....it was surreal, and I'm told that my recollection was mostly correct....and that I asked a nurse out on a date.

From their perspective, it isn't wrong. Wrong is an opinion. Back then it wasn't illegal and condemnation of a historical practice doesn't do anything but waste time and effort. Condemning the actions of a dead man doesn't do anything....he's dead.

When it happens now, depending on where it happens, it may or may not be illegal. It's happening right now in the USA and elsewhere. I reserve my condemnation for things that are actionable.

The number of artists, philosophers, and assorted other geniuses given to some sort of mental affliction is rather high. Their lunacy, or stresses, etc, from it fosters creativity.

There can be any number of explanations for hallucinations. Dehydration, gastrointestinal distress, blood loss, hypothermia, hyperthermia.....divine intervention, aliens..... I wasn't there - so I'm not prepared to argue for or against it, nor am I prepared to condone or condemn the actions of people who lived thousands of years ago.
