I'm sorry Thparky. I remember you mentioning this but didn't realize it was so recent. That must have been so disappointing. I imagine adoptive parents have to go through a mourning process as any parent who never got to meet their child, it's different but no less painful. I'm sure your thoughts and prayers are giving him comfort wherever he is and keep praying. God has a plan for him as well as you.

Thanks Kate, it was and still is tough, especially now. But God is sovereign over all, even this and who are we to question His plan? Love ya chica, I know I can always count on my adoption buddy to be there :)

That's heartbreaking.

There's still a chance for a happy ending, he could still come home but it would be a miracle as we don't have any idea where he is or what family he is with, but it is most surely with a foster care family. Never knew you could love someone so much and never have even met them.

I can't imagine how that must feel. Is there no one you could contact that might be able to get you in touch? I suppose you can only hope that he is with a family that is taking good care of him.

We've tried, but there is a ton of red tape and privacy laws out there that make it pretty much impossible. We were cut out of the process pretty much right before we could say that we had legal rights to the information. I'm sure he is with a loving family, the process to become a foster family is very similar to adoptive families and even more intense in some cases, so anyone wanting to foster really has to have fostering in their heart intentionally and with good purpose, and families that are only half interested either won't be all in or the system will deem them unworthy. I just wish we could talk to them and let them know he has a sister so they could grow up knowing each other.

It's such a devastating situation. It's almost cruel for him to be separated from his own sister. I don't think the system always has the best interest of a child at heart.

It's true, the system is broken. And there is a lot of focus on keeping birth families together, which I agree with to an extent. But we saw the writing on the wall in our situation, as did our case worker, as did the hospital staff...and no one could do anything about it or so they said. The state laws are in place for good reason, but there is not enough consideration of circumstances when it comes to cases like this. And there's been a few too many stupid lawsuits out there that ruined the whole process. The boy is now apart from ALL his birth family, whereas he could have at least grown up knowing his blood sister. I think that would have been wonderful.

He's actually a big reason I joined this site, I had a huge hole in my heart and decided to fill it up with humor and memes, this community has been great for destressing and coping thru the tough times, even when it doesn't show. You've been a great friend to me and I appreciate it :)

Yeah we're ok, our adopted daughter had a little brother a year ago, her birth mom gave birth to a little boy. We were doing everything we could to adopt him as well but it fell through, and we've accepted that it just wasnt meant to be. Still, it's been a year and we still miss him. Something like that just doesnt go away you know. Easier with time, but never goes away.

No worries, it's part of life. Live, learn, move on, and let your past strengthen you. We want a sibling for our daughter, it just may not be him...and that's ok. God has bigger plans than we could ever imagine, so I'm good with that!
