Shakespeare’s Coriolanus.
In a heated discussion with his mother Caius Marcius ( Coriolanus ) is trying to explain he is not versed in the mild language of politics.
His mother wants him to frame his spirit to ask the people for their voices ( oral votes ).
Yet he is a hardened & decorated lifelong soldier of noble stock and is only used to harsh direct language and also sees
the people as beneath him and not worth of asking.
Is essentially a plea to his mother to be his true self and not have to give up his fighting spirit just to become the consul ( politician ) she now wants him to be.
TBH I love every line of Coriolanuss’ in the play
Peace.
