Do people place too much importance on material belongings? How would you cope if your possessions were taken away from you?

All ‘things’ can be replaced if you really need to.
The only things I would be bothered about would be things of sentimental value & things in my collection that are of historical importance.
Everything else are just ‘things’.

Uh, can I have that demon's number? I desperately WANT to get rid of all my junk! If I was to follow the Konmari method of decluttering it would be only my family in an empty house with wine and tacos. Honestly I feel like stuff gets in the way so often of true human relationships. Adam and Eve literally had nothing, not even clothing and they were perfectly content until they started desiring more. As long as you have food, shelter, the basic necessities everything else is fluff. So good to have you back. You always have great questions!

I think the less you have the more you appreciate things. I can honestly say there is nothing that I posses that I would truly miss if it were gone. When people surround themselves with material belongings I think they are compensating for something else missing in their lives. I'm definitely guilty of having too much 'junk'.

My family was once robbed, and losing the things with sentimental value -and especially my children's toys and belongings - still hurt and anger to this day. Some people do put too much value on things without sentimental value, but I also feel if you don't ever cherish a thing such as a child's first shoes or that fishing rod you used with your dad, you are a pretty hollow individual.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I suppose there are certain things in life that are irreplaceable. Maybe not the items themselves but the memories that we associate with them.
