Agreed. But it's very clear that the Spanish Inquisition violated the principles in the Bible, true Christianity's source. But are there any atheistic principles that Stalin violated?

Then what principles did Stalinbreak by killing millions of people, or did he break any principles at all?

Ok. I get that. Different people can hold different viewpoints. People can hold differing opinions, and yet have a right to disagree. But did he have a right to disagree with secular humanism?

I'm trying to make the point that either you absolve Stalin of his crimes, or you believe there is a higher moral code that affects everyone, regardless of belief system.

So in a sense, you're saying that there is a higher moral code. And like you said, it doesn't give a general ethical judgment on every category of actions.

In most religions, the higher moral code comes from God. But how do atheists explain a higher moral code?

A moral code is a set of principles that denote some human actions as ethically right and others as ethically wrong.

The "higher moral code" is the universal moral code that transcends time, culture, or situation.

For example, killing people for fun is ethically wrong, no matter what situation you are in, what culture you belong to, or what year it is. In that sense, the principle "no one should kill people for fun" belongs to the higher moral code.

And there are many religious people who oppose oppression and genocide. The difference is that, depending on the religion, a religion's teachings can oppose these sort of things, whereas atheism's like using a mad libs book as a moral guideline.
