Hey does anyone know if it's true or not that you can't turn off the location services on an android? I read that somewhere but there is a link to turn,it off....on some phones, maybe there's an,internal thing? IDK. I know pretty much no one's data is their own weather you're on a phone or computer if using social media. I call it "The Free Tax" . 😂😂

Where the switching for adjusting location services is, depends on which version of software your phone is using and what modifications the particular manufacturer has made to the base operating system. On my android it is version 9 and located under security and privacy. I remember earlier OS (operating sytem) being under a simpler heading of location services, very direct.

Therefore, it's best you find out what your model phone or it's operating system is and search online under the term, "how to turn of location android 8 (or whatever yours is)"

Also of bigger importance is to learn how to go through app permissions. Turn off microphone and camera access to apps not requiring or turn all of it off and phone will ask you to allow so and so app to have access. Which you then allow or deny. I dont know if it would still be possible for an outside source to adjust the permissions once you set them. But if they could do that, then you better keep your eyes open.

I knew about the permissions in App manager. ALOT,of apps ask for permission 4 areas on your phone that they don't,really,need. And I already know how to turn off location... It's in my settings . pretty user friendly.
I just wondered if there was something to that article about not being able to really turn, it off... My guess is they were referring,to the cell tower pings ...but not sure,
Anyway, the other piece to it (I finally figured out) is android phones are linked to,Google usernames/accounts ...theres a whole set of settings & permissions to go thru,there too. I think that's why these "HCTD" with phone calling features don't come with a manual lol

You have to sorta figure it out by experimenting,with the product.

They use location of wifi and cell towers and take advantage of location information sent with data from such sources. Then your phone gets given that information which they retrieve through apps which are interacting with their servers. They can then know where you have been without having GPS or other location services on. .

The ability to adjust permissions remotely should be considered as a seperate subject.

Moral of the story, dont do anything illegal and if you have to. Dont bring your regular phone. Hence why the criminals use prepaid/ burner type phones. They just dispose after using.

I think if your aware of app permissions you should be able to create as much privacy as an honest person needs and one other thing that comes to mind is that there is several settings which you can adjust which means they are supposed to purge what data they already have about you.

You should be able to find much more and better detail than I have outlined online but otherwise thats the gist of them tracking you without permission.

And yes no instruction definitely means you got to learn it.
