This meme is misleading and is a faulty explanation of Karl Popper's belief on the paradox of tolerance; I CORRECTED THIS MEME. SEE BOTTOM... To be a true liberal by definition we must tolerate the intolerant even when we see their ideas as faulty in order to maintain all of our 1st amendment rights. If we try to silence their freedom then we lose our right to that same freedom. However, if the intolerant become violent or threaten direct harm then they lose their right to such a freedom and we have no alternative but to retaliate as a last resort.
