All the changes are beginning to confuse me

It is supposed to be that your old username shows for 30 days, at that point you can change it again but then your previous user name will show. I do not believe they are showing ALL previous names. Though, it is not a bad idea for them to do that. Showing a name history would go even further in preventing trolls.

Yeah that's what I was wondering about, because now you can have loads of alts without need actual accounts because loads of people just won't know who you are. Thanks for the info :D

Well, no. If you had an alt you would need separate accounts for each. It is still your same account and everyone can know exactly who you are even after changing your username. Your previous username always shows on your profile for 30 days, so people will still know who you are.

Sorry, what I meant with that was that you could slip under the radar for a bit - 30 days as it happens - after the name change, and then go unnoticed until your previous username on your profile disappears. So it's still not an amazing system.

Unless someone visits your page they wouldn't know of the change so that is possible. You are at the mercy of people with a good memory though. Some may still know who you are because they recall your memes that have been featured and things like that. I haven't found anyone who has been able to do that unless they weren't known in the first place. You can about guarantee people will visit your page if you suddenly go absent. They do that a lot around here.

True, and I suppose you could make note of the points total and the date they joined as well.

Don't give people crazy ideas! I would equate that to stalking. I hope no one around here is doing that. LOL! I will say, when you bookmark a profile the new name does not change in the bookmarks list, Unless you make a new bookmark after they change their name. I used to have a list of bookmarked users that I visited regularly because I liked their memes. Once we were able to follow users I didn't need it anymore. Anyhoo I noticed if someone changed their name it did not change in the bookmark.

Yeah, I suppose because the links stay the way they were when you bookmarked them, but the site updates them and redirects them to the new web page. Nice idea :D

Definitely nice to know if you have someone you suspect would try something foul.

Maybe there should be a profile/account history tab - to reflect name changes over time (like with a timeline) - a record that all users can see if they're interested in who a username is or was - and when.

I've seen names change in some notifications and comment threads - and can't remember who the old name was...

Not a bad idea about an account history tab. I don't know of any user that has been able to change a second time yet. I would need to see what happens with a second username change, maybe it will indeed show that history.

Yeah that would also help keep track of troll name-changes as Nixie.Knox said above, because right now it seems a little too flawed
