We've had plenty of movies where hunting people or pitting them against each other for entertainment purposes, etc was a thing. Often it's a dystopian future where the poor are slaughtered for the benefit of rich spectators. The Purge, Hunger Games, and Divergent in recent years are some. Elysium is one where the rich treat the poor like offal, and District 9 and Planet of the Apes are allegories of class division and exploitation & brutalization as accepted societal norms.
