Don't forget the stopping the bomb or whatever with second to spare!
Add the female character that is weak and needs saving that suddenly becomes a tough kick ass at the end.
Did you know in action films they have a car chase or explosions right at the one hour mark? It's to keep you interested in the story. (I have looked into writing a screenplay and each page is one minute of screen time. Writing a action flick? They turn right to page sixty to see if you have action.)

Humanity always comes out on top no matter how horrific the event or terrible the aliens. Why can't we be realistic for once, we pampered 21 century wimps who carry hand sanitizer with us and freak out when our WiFi connection is lost wouldn't survive 10 minutes in those conditions.

Always gotta have the hero be some hunk and the heroine a super model who's hair and makeup are perfect even after being nearly killed or barfed on by the aforementioned aliens. Oh and they must always fall in love usually after that hate eachother in the first half of the film. (The hero and heroine I mean not the heroine and alien)

Kids are most often bratty and mouthy to the parents (Ahem, Spielberg) who are sometimes shown as the clueless ones.

Running from someone or something and tripping.

And yea I'm with Bona, the gun/knife/weapon will always fall and the hero is trying to reach it as he's dying or being killed but then he or someone else kills the bugger with one last minute shot.

HA! like the lone black person in every scary or thriller or horror movie who dies first?
Like the dummies in every scary movie that decide to "hide" in the woods away from any source or help?..LOL
Like the dummies in every scary movie that by pass the car to get away and instead "hide" in the HAUNTED house..LOL

Hmmm but if the main characters die early on ...where does that leave the storyline? But I do get what you're saying...they stretch it out. Sometimes it's believable..sometime not. Gotta love Hollywood though .

Lack of synchronization between movie time and RL time (for example, a bomb is supposed to blow up in 15 second, but the hero takes a full minute defusing it)

Plot armor (only important characters survive mass murders and catastrophes, important characters survive wounds and attacks which easily kill anyone else etc)

Villains doing stupid shit because of their arrogance (sparing/torturing/imprisoning the hero when they have a perfect chance to kill him, villain revealing the details of his EEYVEL plan upon the discovery that the villain truly is a villain etc)

Hero has a dead parent/relative/friend/colleague as a motivation for the movie's entire plot and events

Breaking the chain (very common in horror movies. There were many people before the hero who attempted to stop the villain or get rid of a curse, but all of them failed. Except for the hero, of course)

Breaking the seal (a long time ago, a great evil was defeated, but was sealed/imprisoned because it couldn't be destroyed. Some time later, the evil is unsealed, and the hero destroys the evil once and for all)

Disloyalty to the source material (a majority of book/comic/videogame movies)

Male and female protagonists falling in love/having sex for the sake of falling in love or having sex

Subliminal feminist, racemixing or other SJW agenda.

Predictable jumpscare

Camera not showing certain details like the villain's face because it's not that time for exposition yet

Camera not showing mutilated bodies/people getting killed by a monster

Actors being simply weird by doing/saying something nobody would do/say IRL

Actors NOT doing/saying something anyone would do/say in a certain situation, leading to the viewer screaming:"You imbecile!" at the screen

Convenient object at a convenient place for the hero to conveniently save the day, defeat the villain or discover a great revelation about something

Radio/TV being turned on, and the first thing is news broadcasting about a plot-relevant event

Villain is either intelligent, but weak and therefore a puppetmaster deceiving others to do his bidding, or powerful and mighty, but stupid and irrational

Villain has a good reason/philosophy behind his actions which the hero just throws away like nothing and kill the villain anyways

Hero and the main characters gazing/riding off at the sunset/sunrise at the end

Villain's main motive is either revenge or conquering and ruling the world

Comment limit, to be continued

I agreed with every single point of your list.

Now that's skill

Hmm, let's see...

Character dies/is killed right before he's about to spill crucial information

Character dies/is killed right after giving a vague clue about what the hero needs (to do), leading the hero and his companions to contemplate the obscure meaning of the clue for a little while. The clue will be completely forgotten by the characters and the viewers until one character says or does something which gives the hero the "Uh-huh!" moment and saves the day

A secret society/organization which contacts the hero and aids him in his battle against evil, or is responsible for the evil themselves

A detective has a childish, charismatic, near-moronic companion who makes friends with everyone around him and makes stupid remarks and comments about any and all clues which the detective discovers, but one remark gives the detective the "Uh-huh!" moment and figures the whole case out

The villain never thinks of killing/getting rid of the detective (you know, the person who has the greatest chance of exposing the villain)

Villain has a mind control tool/power with which he either turns the hero's companions against him, or sends them away to created the "only you and me" atmosphere

A character constantly silences another, less intelligent and more annoying character who has some important information to tell him, which either leads the former to go absolutely mad upon hearing the information, or causes a whole lot of confusion and misunderstanding which were never supposed to happen

Hero falls unconscious in his battle against a villain or a villain's minions and discovers his friend/companion is killed/kidnapped upon awakening

A villain kills one of his minions to demonstrate how evil and powerful he is

The size of the clip doesn't matter, the gun will keep firing 'till the end of time

Hero hides at a place unsuitable as cover against gunfire (behind a bench or wooden doors, for example), but still comes out unharmed

A character stands in front of a door, face back, and something through the door either killing/harming the character or missing him by a few inches.

Running in an alley means getting rid of whatever was chasing you.

Alien race/species secretly controls the world or has something to do with the origins of humanity (maybe they're trying to tell us something...)

The futuristic world is either utopia or dystopia, nothing in between

Comment limit yet again. Guess there'as just that much tropes :

There are probably others, but I can't think of the right now.

I can recommend you this YT channel, though: https://www.youtube.com/user/CinemaSins
These guys dissect movies, present the tiniest flaws you would never care of knowing about and add sarcasm through the whole thing. I think you'll like them. There are other channels which follow the same template, and deal with various other media formats, like videogames, TV shows, music videos, anime etc.

Ooh! I know CinemaSins.
I love how they can criticize it so accurately and yet do it so comedically

The villain has the upper hand at the hero and is about to shoot him, the shot is heard and the villain falls, revealing the hero's partner behind him.

The villain has the upper hand at the hero, but the hero gets a flashback which puts him in a rage mode and gives him enough strength to defeat the villain against all odds.

Begging for a sequel (a big detail just glossed over which is supposed to be explained in the later titles)

A bomb is defused/catastrophy is prevented miliseconds before it was supposed to happen

Hacking/falsifying personal documents and authority positions is much easier than it is IRL

The hero easily defeats someone at one scene, but struggles with someone of lesser or identical power at other scenes (more common in videogames where the hero has a highly powerful power/weapon/skill, but does not use it in cutscenes)

That's all I can think of. A lot of these can also apply to other media formats, like videogames or TV shows.

Those are so accurate I almost can't believe it
[deleted]
3 ups, 5y
For example, the bomb goes off in 5 minutes, but the whole scene takes like 10 minutes.
The hero has a destiny, or lost their parent(s), or is the strongest, or is the most morally-correct.
The rivalry being resolved to beat a common villain.

Thought of another one...any image or video anywhere can be enhanced to whatever the heck resolution is needed to pin the crime on the bad guy...pisses me off. I deal with photographic stuff all the time at work, and let me tell you there is no enhance button and there is no high res zoom feature. Screw you Hollywood.
