Apparently, you know nothing about gun free zones. You see, there are these places that don't allow guns, which makes it very difficult to actually have one on your person and actually stop someone from murdering a bunch of people.
Gun free zones allow bad guys like these spree shooters to shoot them up without worrying about being shot back at until the police arrive, or they shoot themselves in the face.
