I don't submit there much anymore. Though the fire exit one took off, most memes seem to get lost in the diversity there. Who has time to sift through pages of fortnight memes and memes about homework to find good memes? Not that those are bad, but I am not interested in them and find them tedious. In the streams you have a more focused audience and less gets lost. But with the follow user feature maybe some of this will change.
