Make guns difficult to get ahold of illegally, through better regulation and disruption to illegal supply channels; black market price goes up, fewer criminals can afford it, market equilibrium of volume goes down. Fewer criminals have guns. We've done something about the situation.

Just about everyone else in the developed world has figured out how to make that work but us.

You forgot THE most effective means of getting guns out of the hands of criminals and off the streets, and with them doing it with a smile, no less.

Worked in NYC, worked in Australia.

Didn't work in Baltimore, Chicago... some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

As if they tried.

Talking about trying, try this: NYC, NY, USA
Safest big city in America - formally the most dangerous city on Earth.

Let's try a different approach, since you're losing the arguments ob graphed data.

Maybe you an explain what the difference between NYC and Baltimore. They're only 240 miles apart... yes? They both have strict gun laws... yes? Yet the murder rate in Baltimore is one of the highest in the world.

Just gonna point out... 1) improvements in NYC came about with Rudy Giuliani (getting tough on crime), and is currently being ruined by that abject idiot DeBlasio.
2) If you think Chicago and Baltimore haven't tried... you're in complete denial.

Nope.

1. Improvements started in the 1960s.

2. Rudo? Wasn't he like so 20 years ago? What did he do?
Oh, that's right, he cleared the Bowery of squeegee cleaners yielding bumz. Whoop dee doo.
He was also Mayor of NYC, not President of the USA. Just as the crack crime wave waned here, it waned everywhere.

3. Crime rates have declined significantly SINCE his departure, 2 Mayors later, one with 3 terms and the other on his 2nd, regardless of what an idiot that bungling DeBlasio is.

Check the graph and Get your facts right. Crime rate increasing from the 60's until Giuliani policies starting in Jan 1994. He was mayor until Dec 2001, and his policies continued... but is now being undermined by DeBlasio... an abject idiot.

The difference in Chicago and Baltimore is they never had a Republican mayor who would actually do anything. It takes a republican with conservative policies (i.e. get tough on crime).

Haven't tried? You calling Trump a liar? Criminals have been practically given the key to the city in both those places. They're out in the open 'plying their trade'

Fella, before you waste both our times on nonsense about MY town, just look it up.
I grew up here, I'm not going to blank my memory and replace it with a meme because Putin's IRA done told you different.

What meme? I posted graphic data from wikipedia, which backs up what I said. Sorry it doesn't fit your anti-trumpian narrative.

I posted that comment after you deleted 2, and before you posted this, yes?

Again, lemme explain this to you so you can tell Putsy babes you tried your darndest:

Me. New Yorker. born. and. raised. Giuliani. is. not. mayor. anymore. for. almost. 2. two. TWO. decades. and. crime. goes. down. still. mkay?

Hope that doesn't hurt your Trump cult feelz.

That data doesn't disagree with what I posted, but when are you going to admit that rates weren't dropping from the 1960's like you originally wrote?

The graph I showed was a over a longer period, and showed the murders (which as mostly related to guns... yes?

You're graph only starts at the 90's and is OVERALL CRIME. So... let's see... we aren't really talking about shoplifting here... get it?

Sorry... but your narrative fails again... in spite of you feeble attempt at insult (which you do because you can't actually back up you narrative)

You have a bad habit of replying AFTER I post something, such as the graph below for murder numbers which I posted for the heck of it since we were discussing NYC CRIME rates.

The improvements I referred to since the '60s were in terms of law enforcement and approach, since I did mention the crack crime wave that came later courtesy of Reagan.
In response to an increase in street gang violence, individual social workers were assigned to them to help change gang culture. That's why despite the bad old days, we haven't had it like LA, Chicago and Detroit, etc. People didn't get shot for entering the wrong street, for example.

That's a graph for murders. Note the uptick in Giuliani's final years, and how the numbers under DeBalsio's tenure is half of that.

I'm not sure what you think it shows... but what it does show... the murder rate dropping from 1994. The graph I showed shows it better because it shows the fluctuation between the years 1970 - 1993. This is a far better representation of the data.

So what said then?

No, that is not a far better representation, since the one I posted states actual numbers.

But doesn't show the context or full picture. Anyhow, since you've lost this argument, maybe you can point out the big difference between your (cough cough) bitchin' gun laws compared to Baltimore's (which has some of the highest murder rates in the world)? Who knows...maybe you can convince me... LOL/

Don't do that, don't get stupid on me.
"You wothe" Lose what, moron, a coupon to free Wendy's? Did you not look at the graph YOU posted, botboi?

2018 murders were at 289, 3 less than 2017, and less than half of Giuliani's best year in 1998 with 629, 3 years before his departure and before they went up by 50. And this year is on track to be lower still.
Also note the peak in 1990, when murders tallied at 2,245, after which they began a steep decline, 4 years BEFORE he took office.

We're done.
0 ups, 5y
Nope... I'm saying "Tough on crime" policies put in place by Giuliani were maintained by Bloomberg (another republican), and still maintained by DeBlasio (a democrat because you don't fix something that isn't broke). Although... the way things are going with DeBlasio... (like water being dumped on your LEOs)... it's a good chance things will get worse if NYC isn't careful).

So... about the difference between Baltimore and NYC gun laws.... what say you? Why does strictly enforced gun laws work in one city and not the other?
