Ok, so my mom makes the best I've had and it was my grandmother's recipe. Cut it up into small pieces, about 1/2" thick. Get your oil heated, in a large pan and have about 1/2" of oil in the pan. Mix about a half cup of flour and a cup of corn meal together, and then wet the okra witha splash of water, just enough to make the flour mix stick and toss the okra in it. Fry the okra till its golden brown, and DO NOT STIR IT! Just gently turn it over once in a while. As soon as it comes out of the oil, put it on a paper towel to soak up the extra oil and immediately hit it with a little salt. Crispy, crunchy, delicious southern comfort food right there. No slime, just deliciousness. I could make myself sick eating it. But...I also like the slimy boiled kind too, so dont hate! And okra pickles...mmm, no slime there either, crispy like a dill. I'm hungry now!
