rod serling twilight zone | IMAGINE, IF YOU WILL, YOU WOULD GET A BUNCH OF HOBBYIST PROGRAMMERS TO DO SERIOUS WORK AND DEVELOP, ALSO A SET OF OPERATING SYSTEMS IBM CAN | image tagged in rod serling twilight zone | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Hmm, IBM is very happy for it, since 2000.
And Microsoft commits Source code to the Kernel now. :8~)
I mean, if their Programmers are that bad, why would you let them commit Source code to Linux? Ha, they do it for free, right? Nope. You and others paid for it.

As if Linux were any better. The most efficient rootkits exist for Linux and all of their descendants, the most backdoors exist(ed) in linux software.
The lastly reported very interesting bug was in Jenkins. huh ...
These professionals ... If your build process of your software isn't safe,
how can you brag about a lack of safety of other operating systems which clearly ain't your business, if you can't assure that by yourself?

If you argue that way, you define yourself due to the existence of something else and you blame that something else it were bad, but you learned from it. :8~)

Ever investigated the Source code of the Linux Kernel or some of the Programs for Linux? Bugs, logical fallacies everywhere and misconduct in the comments.
So much of it, a Linus Torvalds had to release a code of conduct.
Nearly 30 years after his first kernel release. A long way. :8~)
I mean the same Linus Torvalds, who called the former SCO boss a crackhead.

I installed Linux in my other lap top and had to buy a new lap top because it ruined the other one.

Just be careful. Actually, which distro did you choose?

Ubuntu. It was "supposed" to run along side Windows. Still allowing me access to my windows files, It erased EVERYTHING I had, and would not read the back up I made before install My printer would not work with that laptop anymore, I could not save images and then retrieve them later along with plenty of other issues. Nothing I did would restore Windows and no effort to recover partisans worked either.

Odd.

Yep. I thought so as well. Lesson learned though.

I actually tried to reinstall windows using a disc and it would not accept that either. That is what I don't understand. If I can change the OS *FROM* Windows surely it should be possible the change it back?

My only guess could be corrupted files and/or damage to the hard drive.

That's what I was thinking.

I made that decision before... Although that was ages ago, I still regret it...
But I cannot cry about it, as I don't have the tears dependency, and I cannot install it as it would conflict with the sweat dependency and the breath dependency. It could have been great... I really hoped that.... Windows has always been crappy and Apple now treats their customers as their worst enemies and Linux is nothing but dependency conflicts....

Good OSes don't exist... And I don't even wanna pretend they do...
At least I'm not fooling myself :P

"Although that was ages ago, I still regret it... "

A lot has changed since then.

Actually, which distro did you try out?

Several... Ubuntu, Mint, OpenSUSE, Manjaro, RedHat/Fedora...
I now have Manjaro in a VM, and it appears to run, but frankly I only use it to make Linux versions of programs I sometimes make in Go, but since I don't use Go very much (I prefer C#). I hardly use Linux at all, at this moment... Although I have snapshot it, just in case... Dependency issues is where I suffer most, and my personal experiences with the Linux community are... Not very good either...

And I think that's a pity. As a former Mac user (I left as I hate Apple's current attitude), I do like the Unix based nature that Linux uses too. It's just that the application structure is a big mess and that dependencies are a constant issue. Some programs I now use in WIndows are completely unusable in Linux as the required dependencies have been discontinued by now. And I once had a Linux computer that was turned on, immediately after shut down, and after that it didn't work anymore... Something I never saw in WIndows, and that counts for something...

It's not that I like Windows... And I always speak of MicroSCHOFT ("schoft" is a Dutch slang term for a very bad person)... It's on this moment just the "least bad" option....
(Frankly... I long back to the age of MS-DOS). :P

I don't really know what to say about that. I've been using Linux for quite some time now. Peppermint OS, to be exact (which is Lubuntu-based). I've never really ran into issues that have ruined the experience for me. The closest thing I have to a problem with it is the fact that Linux requires extra work. I've spent my few days with this OS messing with the terminal (mostly to get stuff I need, but sometimes for fun). I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore. Windows, the more I look back on it, was a user-hostile nightmare.

"and my personal experiences with the Linux community are... Not very good either... "

Really? What happened?

I think I described them... Dependency conflicts and unexplainable "system destruction" situations in which the computer wouldn't even start up (or shut down) anymore, requiring me to re-format the entire system and install everything again... I am always a bit fearful whenever I need Linux for anything.

I only use modern windows when I need to. Otherwise, it's legacy windows or Debian.
