One of the first CD's I ever bought. (Pink Floyd's Animals and Wish you were here were one and two)

The pink floyd albums are good too, although their songs are sometimes a bit too...psychedelic? For me anyways...I'm still a big fan, just have to be in the right mood to listen to them.

Floyd has a dark vibe to it that resonates with people in dark moods. I don't listen to much of anymore as I generally am not feeling dark anymore. But Shine On is still a good Sunday morning bit to relax to.

Lol, it still comes through (tastefully) in your humor sometimes, you're good at it :)

Example: Manfred Man's Earth Band (yes I'm old) has an album WATCH that is rather dull on the A side, but the B side is a live concert with only three songs. The energy the live side brings is night and day from the studio (Martha has a Madman is awesome)

Trans Siberian Orchestra. This is saying a LOT.

Orchestras are always better live. I saw Copland conducting his Fanfare to the Common Man at an outdoor arena. Incredible feel to it.

I've heard that. We get a lot of great bands at a place called the Iron Horse in Northampton . While I am not a concert goer I have several friends that go all the time.

Thanks to the over processing of the recordings, they always sound better live, even if their music is crap.

I hate how you can hear where they piece it all together. You know they record the chorus and just insert it where needed instead of singing it each time. Which also means it sounds exactly the same each time in addition to that little split second of a "seam" you hear because of the editing.

I get what you are saying. A lot of that is pop slock that i can't stand, but my wife listens to. But this thread was more about bands you like that sound better live than studio.

I got into Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats last year and especially their live performances. Their song Shake live is wonderfully bluesy. The studio version is absolute crap.

Then there are the bands that I like because of studio magic, but live sound like crap because they really don't know how to play. No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom is a really good album. Live? They stunk up the joint.

Live or otherwise. Once they hit the radio they really went downhill. And look at Gwen now. SMH... sad indeed.

At any rate, just in general I like live music better. That goes for about any band.

Yeah after Tragic Kingdom I lost interest in them. But there are bands I grew up with, listening to the same album forever over and over again. Then hear them live and it's different because it's impossible to hit the same note and the same time with the same inflection time after time. But thanks to the album I kind of expect of them.

I went to one of their evolve tour concerts with my dad [who basically hated their music] and he was really happy with how the concert sounded. I think that's mostly because it's rawer if that makes sense..... You-know-what, not filtered and tuned to absolute oblivion
