That's way too fancy and gaudy for me. I'd want something very rustic. Either an old farmhouse restored, or something new made to look rustic. Plenty of room with a custom designed kitchen (I'm a chef), but not too huge. All one story because I hate stairs. And it would have a nice piece of land in or near the mountains, probably in upstate SC where I live now. And I'd have a barn and a big workshop and sheds for storage

I like your idea. Yea the house pictured is nothing like my dreams either. I'm a country gal myself. Give me trees, water, some pasture and I'm in heaven.

I grew up in an old farmhouse where my parents still live. We had a pond, pasture, cows, other animals etc and plenty of woods to hunt and play in. And there were hundreds of acres of woods surrounding that we had permission to hunt and roam on. Still do when I can. I have four acres with a stream and a mountain view when the leaves are off the trees. And a very small house I restored. It's much but it's mine :-)

Sounds lovely. My dream house would be the home I grew up in too. Foothills of the Allegheny mountains in PA. Beautiful A-frame house. Much like this one. It had 30 foot ceilings, a balcony, wrap around porch. Surrounded by huge oaks. It was breathtaking in the winter especially in the snow. Miss it. We moved when I was 12. But the sind house wasn't bad either. More farmland. Cows and barns. Still lovely and better than where I am now.

That's cool. What area do you live in now? There are two places that I've always said were my dream homes near here. One was built by a man I used to work for who built it using all recycled aged pine. Everything, walls, floors, Windows, everything was custom made out of it. He'd saved up old bubble glass and had them used in all the Windows. The stacked stone chimney was made from rock he took from property he owned in NC. And it's on a big piece of property with a lake.

The other is a guy who took two old log cabins built in the 1800s and had them moved and combined into one big house and added on to but made to look like it had been there forever. And he furnished it with antique furniture and fixtures and it was on a beautiful piece of property.

Both of those men were millionaires of course though. Me, not so much lol

Those guys both sound like my dad. He loves to build and loves rustic. I'm in a south Texas city now where it's hot as hell, flat as a flapjack, too much traffic. At least the people are neighborly and you get to keep your guns. I wanna move back north.

A raised ranch on a several acres. Somewhere near a more Urban spot, so I'm not too far from people.

1-2 acres of finished land plus 30 or 40 acres of hardwoods, maybe a creek or a fish pond somewhere in the mix. House would be a sprawling single story with maybe a basement or split level just for some dimension, and a mac daddy patio/deck to house a couple grills and a smoker, fire pit, etc. Big live oak shade tree in the back for a swing for my baby girl, and I'd definitely want to have a 2 car attached garage and then a 4 car detached garage/shop for my hobbies. Outside the city limits, but within 15 minutes drive of needs (groceries, pharmacy, gas, etc) and within 30 minute drive of wants (restaurants, movies, entertainment)
