To become a citizen legally requires thousands of dollars, numerous forms, several interviews with an immigration office, a citizen or employer must sponsor you, it takes sometimes up to a decade to complete the whole process. I've been through it. Nothing easy about it especially compared to other countries.

Anyway my teacher in civic class passed out the US citizen test and I was of any two students in the class that passed.

It's actually an oral test that the immigration officer will administer during your last interview before you take the oath of allegence

You are in the public school system. I would not expect 99% of the students to pass for that reason.
