As for "he didn't stay very long", what does it say about Trump that he hired a self-proclaimed leader of a white nationalist/racist online group guy as his Chief Strategist and then tried putting him on the National Security Council?

Altho Spicer was wrong about Assad using gas, you left out the part where he 1st talked about how the US didn't use chemical warfare in WW2 then brought up that Hitler didn't either. He had to apologize like a bitch but it's clear he meant it as a weapon used against troops beyond your territory, like firing mustard gas shells over the lines in WW1 but don't consider context at all.

I was trained that a chemical weapons/warfare is used on a battlefield between opposing forces. Chemicals when used against non-combatants is called murder or torture if you survive.

Here is the US government definition:
Chemical weapon. — The term "chemical weapon" means the following, together or separately:
(A) A toxic chemical and its precursors, except where intended for a purpose not prohibited under this Act as long as the type and quantity is consistent with such a purpose.
(B) Ammunition or device, specifically designed to cause death or other harm through toxic properties of those toxic chemicals specified in subparagraph (A), which would be released as a result of the employment of such munition or device.
(C) Any equipment specifically designed for use directly in connection with the employment of munitions or devices specified in subparagraph (B).
