Removing history from a school because you do not like the bad parts being shown is whitewashing. The bad parts that where shown in the mural, it is not a statue, is the history that is generally not taught in the history books and why I mentioned propaganda.

Thus regressives are whitewash history and promote the official clean version over the truth because they "feel" that showing the bad parts is promoting the behavior rather than criticizing it.

It doesn't actually matter how many learn from it, if you remove easy to find negative info and present only the "clean" info you are whitewashing by definition. We are talking about erasing a ,mural that shows a part of history that is not taught in the school books. Thus whitewashing away the warts that regressives do not like, because they say that the criticism of the bad parts of early USA history is promoting that behavior.

I agree. Hard to judge people who existed under a different moral system than we do. Somethings are universally accepted to be wrong like murder. However, different cultures may justify these crimes in different ways e.g. it is ok to kill in self defense or in war etc.
