"Daughter of the Commandments" -- female equivalent of a BAR ("son") Mitzvah.

The spelling is a TRANSLITERATION of the HEBREW, so the vowels are pronounced like in Spanish, French and German, so it's Baht MITTS-vuh, i.e., rhymes with COT, not CAT.
