So you think we should not have built the interstate system?

The financial cost alone was bad enough. The social cost—destroying homes, families and communities—was even worse. The interstate is the reason we have, among other things, eyesores like Wal-Mart where there could be local businesses.

And I bet you use that system every day, just like the rest of us.

We can't remain in 1945. All progress comes with negative consequences. That doesn't mean we shouldn't progress.

Of course I do, and of course we can't. The question isn't whether to progress, but how, where, and why.

That's for the next planet, once we've figured that out and destroyed this one. Then we can find another one and do it the right way. Hindsight is 2020.
