Mine did not feel that way. I had 16 1/2 hours of labor and maybe 5 minutes of pushing on my first, and 6 hours of labor and abut 5 minutes of pushing with my second. It did not feel like lightning. But the contractions... I can describe feeling as if there were a tension rod in my uterus and the sensation felt like i was being stabbed with a blunt object from the center outward to the left and right. It was the strangest pain I have ever felt.
