Having the points system was always going to be a bit of a downfall due to the competition it incurs and being better than others. That's why I've always respected the bases of sites like DeviantArt as there are no real points systems or anything like that, at least not since I've been on there, however art is much more subjective than memes.
That last point is not something I ever thought I'd say :D
