Actually Jesus was a historical person. Everyone agrees to that. The dissagreement is to whether He was divine or not.

I highly doubt it. There is not a single philosopher, rabbi, Roman government official or anyone from the 1st century who ever wrote about Jesus or anyone similar to Jesus. And if romans, who were seriously obssessive about documenting everything, never wrote anything about Jesus, then there is something very fishy in the story. I understand that absence of the evidence is not evidence of the absence, but this is a different story.

I discovered a few months ago a video of a seminar by Mark Passio titled "Fake-Ass Christians", ehich goes into detail explaining the occulted (hidden) side of Christianity and the astro-theological origins of Christianity and other Abrahamic religions. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h5ZxVLDjZY&t=8307s

And another very interesting article about the Sun Worship enrooted in Christianity: http://www.answering-christianity.com/abdullah_smith/cross_pagan_origins.htm

What "evidence supports the basic idea that someone like him lived in that time"?

First I've heard of that outside of fundamentalists.

I even took a class called the Historic Jesus in Fordham U back in the 80s, and there was no evidence offered, other than the class proceeding from the assumption that he did exist, was crucified, and rose from the dead (the professor used to repeat this like a mantra practically).
This was back when I was a believer to the point I considered converting to Judaism, mind you, so not like I dismissed anything.

Yeah, I forgot to write "excluding the NT books" when I was writing that part. I, too, think that there was a great healer (likely a herbalist or other practicioner of plant/natural based medicine (and as unlikely as someone is to use plants for healing in a desert, I see no other option)), a guy who prevented a stoning of a woman by saying "Let the one without sin cast the first stone" (or something along the lines of that) etc, and that it fell on someone's mind to take these people, blend them together, add elements of Pagan Sun worship symbols, write twenty-something books about the final product and create the greatest mass-murderous cult in the hustory of humanity.

Sol Invictus.

Also check out the Zoroastrain Cult of Mithra, widely practiced in Rome - yup - 2000 years ago.

I see you have studied the topic well, Vagabond. You have my utmost respect for that.

Hey, there's another seminar a watched a while back titled "The Copycats: How Christianity Steals the Best Ideas" by Seth Andrews. It doesn't go into as great detail as Mark's seminars do, but it still does the job excellently. The biggest redpill of the seminar is at 33:53, where it is explained how and why is Christianity still the largest religion on the world, despite the various Biblical inconsistencies, inner division (Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Protestant, Baptist etc), proofs of the Bible stories never happening and/or being copies of Pagan myths etc.

Sorry about the delay, I had to go find this:

https://youtu.be/eWNBz6HZTgs

Much of it is distorted nonesense, so you have to look it up to verify, but there's specs of truth in there still.

Thanks I'm really not an expert, just bits I've picked up of the years.

Ahh, I remember Zeitgeist. One guy mentioned it when I said that Christianity is a copy of Pagan myths, hoping he's disprove the claim. Never heard of the movie before, and by this point, I've only seen bits and pieces. And I agree, it's very half-truthy and sounds like it mixed up (and even made up) a few things. New Agers love to reference it everywhere, though. They are naïve children, after all.

Excluding the parts which aren't half-truths, the movie's good to help encourage people into exploring the Christian occult and give them the idea that there's a lot about Christianity they have no clue about, but as standalone material? Nah.
