Amazing how fast some memes get catapulted to the front page within a few hours of their release.

I put a couple a week on the front, but it seems that they crawl up there slowly while others just "pop" up there instantly a couple hours or so after being created.

At least that's what I was told awhile back...I don't know if it's true or not.

I've never joined the circle jerk club and I don't have time for alts. It's no biggie. If I hit the sweet spot time one I generally do good, but lately the mods have been holding my memes for up to six hours. They still do good in the politics section, but I'm about to give up on the fun.

I have my people I tend to frequently hang with around here. I don't think it's helped me get to the front page. Not recently anyway. I used to make the front page a lot. Now it's rare. Reasons are beyond me.

Someone else sees this too then? I tell you what else I also see. My memes getting obviously troll bombed to the back. A meme does not steadily move forward then suddenly, for no good reason go flying back to page 5, 8, 10. And into a black hole. This is happening to me left and right lately.

I've noticed that they can go forward to backwards real quick if the upvotes slow down with no comments. Thats why I try to engage each comment, so as to spawn more. A good meme can survive the down votes so long as it makes it to the second page. The visibility of a good meme is enough to overcome trolls....most of the time.

Never paid attention to some of those details. I tend to be shamefully active in comments. I admit also to not visiting the actual stream daily. But when I do this is just my observation.

Mod Acuity12 stated last year that downvoting memes back is no longer a thing here.

You can see it with mine, where the early ones were DV'd into disappearing, whereas the last two (I rarely post them) haven't, despite being the locales of flame wars.

Raydog and others say there's an optimal time to submit memes, like ultra early in the morning.

I think some gain traction in the beginning, but then lose momentum.
It is suspicious how some manage to zoom day after day to the top. There was a newb Grind indirectly pointed out last week. Comes out of nowhere and he's half the front page. Something not adding up there.

That is one thing that is really suspicious. Hate to say.

As far as the timing I guess that could be true, but again the variety of time zones we have amongst users would mean early for one would be later for another I have never noticed a rhyme or reason to it. I do notice If I am not active in general my stuff never gets anywhere. Because when I am active I assume people visit my page more.
