As a Millennial (born 2001, so is that millennial?), I never understood participation trophies, because my school never did them. What are they?

For example, you join a contest. They hand out trophies to literally everybody. When you look at your trophy, it doesn't say "# Place". But it says "Participation Award".
Okay you got me. She is unique and minimally useful, but quite possibly only in the short term unless she is smart, witty, and challenges me intellectually.
But again...everything that is unique isn’t necessarily useful.
(I got that image from user templates - I searched unique)
I do actually agree with your point (I was just joking), It's like the contestants on those "Got Talent" shows, where they have talents and skills, but they're not exactly useful skills.
But when you think about it, a spork is unique but not terribly useful. Have you tried to use the sporks they give you at KFC? The forks are too long to be useful for scooping up mashed potatoes and too short to really spear anything. They are actually useless.
