Ah, it doesn't really matter, as long as they don't know anything else about you such as your real name. I have a couple of friends I've met over the internet, who I am comfortable sharing information with (within reason, of course), who I know aren't going to try to scam me or anything. That can't be determined of the general public, however, so it's usually best to leave some information undisclosed. That's how I see it, at any rate.
