I do support abortion for rape and incest. As a father of a daughter, I would step in and demand one if my daughter was raped. I understand your argument and believe that those two exceptions should have been added.

That is because the death penalty is not executed as it used to be.

By the way, I am a single father of two children that are now almost 17 & 18. I raised them. The mother did not want them, but at the same time she did not need to abort them either.

Then maybe, just maybe if we add rape to the crimes that get the death penalty, then maybe the pregnancies that are caused by rape will be much fewer. On the other hand though, people are not getting abortions just for rape. Most abortions are for one's own self interest, ie. they don't want the baby. So if one does not want a baby, then do not have sex. A woman's right to chose starts and ends when she decides to spread her legs. A man never gets the choice to not "pay" for the baby for the child's next 18 years.

Rape and incest account for LESS than 1% of all abortions. This is nothing but a red herring and does not change the argument that the fetus is a living being.

Yes, but in cases of underage rape, let's say by the uncle that impregnates his niece, is a case for an abortion.

Does it change the fact that the fetus is a living being? I believe that is why the Alabama law does not make an exception.

Luckily, the instance of pregnancy by rape or incest is very, very small.

Look, I am totally against abortion as a way to get out of taking responsibility for one's own actions. When it comes to rape and incest, which as you already pointed out is less than 1% of abortions, those in my humble opinion are LAWFUL abortions. Rapists have no rights to parenthood! And the victims ought not have to bare it either. Now if some do and they raise or adopt them children out, Kudos to them. But there is no shame in killing a rapist's unborn child! We should kill the rapist too!

I actually agree 100% with you.

I was just pointing out what logic Alabama said they used when writing the law. I think the Alabama law goes too far and I think the SCOTUS may actually stop it because of this hardline stanch. Minnesota has also passed a similar law.
